Finding Sandwich Island (2014)
Finding Sandwich Island is a mixed media a speculative fiction film about gentrification, community building, and discovery of the past.
Two friends hang out by USC’s soon to be demolished University Village and share their love of Sandwich Island, a local sandwich shop that has been there since the village was developed. A bike crash sends them to the future, where the UV Village has become a gated USC Village, the retail and housing is nice and there are no locals to be seen anywhere. The two friends befriend a USC student who is curious to discover what the surrounding community is, and together go on a search for Sandwich Island.
